Usability Tests
MÃdia Digital is one of the few Brazilian on-line communication companies to offer a wide structure and a trained team for the execution of web usability tests.
These tests have the purpose of observing and identifying problems of usability (easiness of navigation and organization of a website), and are executed with users from different profiles, who are chosen together with the client.
The tests take place in a mirror room, they are task-guided and executed at the agency itself - totally integrated to other departments of the company.
Other techniques
Besides the usability tests, the Usability team of MÃdia Digital also applies other techniques on the problem diagnostics of a website or portal, which help to indicate solutions for the deficiencies.
They are:
- Card Sorting - a technique performed by some users based on the sorting of aspects written in cards. Besides being good for the description of qualities and deficiencies of a website, the card sorting has the main purpose to explore how people group items and subjects. This way, it is possible to develop structures that increase the users’ chances to find the items and sections of a website or web portal.
- Heuristic Analysis - critical sweepings in a website performed by specialists in the most diverse areas of the web knowledge (Usability, Information Architecture, Webwriting, Technology and Systems, Webdesign, Marketing, among others).
- Paper Prototyping - this technique is a variation of the usability test. In the Paper Prototyping, the user interacts with a paper prototype of the website and shows the actions that he/she would make on the paper, instead of showing it on the computer screen.
